Promise has been officially launched. The committee is currently working on a feasibility study, long term funding sources, and planning a fundraising event. Donations can be made to the Bremerton Schools Foundation 134 Marion Ave, Bremerton WA 98312. Please indicate you would like this donation designated for the Bremerton Promise. If you would like more information or would like to be involved, please contact Julie Wasserburger at wasser3@comcast.net or home phone number 373-6308. The Bremerton Promise will be a scholarship fund to provide up to four years tuition to a public college or technical school for all Bremerton High School Graduates that qualify. The committee is currently in the planning stages of fundraising and has invited Ron Kitchens, a chief executive officer of Kalamazoo economic development organization of Southwest Michigan First, to share with our community how a scholarship program will affect the City of Bremerton. The Kalamazoo Promise launched in 2005, has not only paid for tuition for any graduate that qualifies, but experienced unprecedented economic growth in the surrounding community. Additional cities such as Denver, El Dorado, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh have started their own “Promise” programs.
Bremerton Rotary Bremerton Schools Foundation joined with Bremerton Rotary, Olympic College Foundation, and Bremerton PTSA Council to support the 2009 Rotary Reading Program for the second year in a row.
Teacher Grants new to Teaching 2009 Bremerton Schools foundation has donated $150 to the following teachers new to teaching for the 2009/2010 school district. Money was donated my the Kegel Family trust to support teachers in the Bremerton School District.
